Busy busy busy, seems like I’m working on about ten different projects all the time. Robotic Relative is a new site from the creator of Sweet Nothing Clothes, featuring the Art and Design of Jess Hahn… And the redesign is just screaming to go live but is just not quite there yet. E-commerce is no breeze, there needs to be some advances made, I think the financial institutions need to implement some innovation and produce some kind of API.. I’m no programmer but who knows, be a lot easier if you didn’t have to write an entire back-end to exchange money for goods and services na’-mean (or hook into some greedy and inefficient middle-man service, other than your bank)..

I have about six different paintings on the go, each in a state of almost there, but not quite. And I am also designing a poster, working on the ETA site, and getting started on producing some Flash advertising… Where does it end! All this and working at Great Harvest Bread thirty hours a week, and I need you to hire me, right now!

The Latest and Greatest

Thursday, August 13th, 2009

I’m in the process of putting together a gallery show… hopefully along with Jess, but she works much faster than I do so it’s hard to say, whatever she doesn’t sell at her show may make a reappearance with my work (along with some new pieces I’m sure) when it is finally done.

My workspace is extremely not mine at the moment, and I can’t describe how difficult it can be to paint (or want to paint) in a space where drip and splatter are not an option. So far there are between five and six pieces in the works, in various stages of not quite there yet.

You can be sure when I get this all together it will be an event, with food and drink and good music. I’ll keep you guys posted, and get some new pics uploaded shortly.

Wedding Invites, 2009

Wedding Invites, 2009

Being a designer means not having to pay somebody an outrageous amount of money to get your invitations printed… Like a lot of people these days, we were also on a budget, so inkjet printer and nice paper was the way to go (a little labor got us rounded corners and a custom-sized card, printed full-bleed to boot).

I did the illustration work while my lovely wife handled typography and a vector-drawn map (carefully edited and simplified) for directing people to the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception.

Our theme was travel, but we also wanted to show people the side of Wilmington, North Carolina that we really appreciated, the raw natural beauty of the ocean and pines. I think my illustration captures that pretty well, and the watercolor manages to be soft and organic without coming off as cheesy.
